AKC Hunt Test Judging Seminar 4/28

NDRC is hosting an AKC Hunt Test Judges Seminar on Saturday April 28th at the NDRC Club House main grounds. The seminar will be lead by our AKC Field Representative Jerry Mann and held at 9am to 5pm. The fee for this seminar is $40 and NDRC will provide lunch. All you need to bring is yourself, a pen and something to take notes with, we’ll provide the food and the judging materials.

Registration and payment must be received no later than April 21st! Anyone can attend, however to judge an AKC Hunt Test, you must complete this seminar and test to start your process. If you have no desire to judge, handlers can learn a great deal of information about what judges are looking for while you’re running in various levels of competition.

2012 NDRC Calendars are almost here! I was able to take a peak at the proofs last night and they are great! Lots of new faces in the club this year. Please contact Cathryn Barker if you’d like to order one! Calendars are $17 each which includes standard mail delivery as well.

Field Trial Help Needed! August 26-28th

Attention Club Members!

As a part of your annual membership, members are required to help work club events for 2 days throughout the year. Coming up next weekend, Friday August 26th, 27th, and 28th, NDRC is holding its Fall Field Trial and is need of workers. If you have yet to complete your required 2 days this year, next weekend will offer the opportunity to do so! We currently have openings for ALL stakes and positions including shooting live flyers, throwing dead birds or even running a utility trailer to help set up.

Just an FYI, training night tonight has been cancelled due to heat. Some people may be out on Thursday evening so feel free to join in. Otherwise, we’ll see you next week after hopefully this heat and humidity subside!

Hunt Test Tailgate Night!

If anyone attending the Hunt Test this weekend (7/16) is interested, we will be hosting a tailgate party with steak and fixings on Saturday evening. Price will be $10 per person and include steak and sides.

Minot Retriever Club test is coming to NDRC!

With the Minot area being in a major flood disaster, NDRC is opening our grounds to the Minot Retriever Club to host their summer Hunt Test on July 8th, 9th and 10th. Entries are available on EntryExpress offering a double Master along with single Junior and Senior tests. Entries will close on 6/28 at 11:59pm. If you are running a dog, please offer to pitch in with throwing birds or helping out as the entire Minot crew isn’t able to make the trip.

NDRC is still hosting it’s own Hunt Test the weekend following and EntryExpress has the entries open as well.

NDRC Spring Clean Up Day!

Clean up day is May 7th starting at 9am!

Spring is in the air finally and the club house has a few cobwebs. If you can wipe off a window or run a vacuum we want YOU! We’ll also be taking walks through the grounds ensuring there’s no dangers out there for our dogs. The more helpers we have the sooner we can get on to throwing some birds for the dogs!

Annual Meeting March 23rd!

It’s that time of year again, the itch to get back out training is in full force and the North Dakota Retriever Club is getting geared up for liquid water once again! NDRC will be hosting the annual banquet again this year at Whistle Stop Park in Dillworth where you will be able to catch up with summer training friends, meet new members and do some bragging about you game take over the fall and winter! We will be providing dinner and drinks, as well as raffling off prizes and handing out awards. The banquet starts at 6pm with a social and food to follow at 7.

If you plan on attending, please let us know by either emailing Cathryn or myself or filling out and sending in the RSVP along with $15 to the address on the form.

This is also a great time to get in your membership dues and receive your membership sticker as well as combination for the grounds gate for 2011!

Tim Springer, Dynamic Retrievers Seminar in Tupelo, OK

Please join Tim Springer of Dynamic Retrievers in Tupelo, Oklahoma on March 21st-23rd for his excellent seminar series “What the Books Do Not Tell You.”

Tim test drove this seminar on the retriever folks at NDRC this summer and it was nothing short of AMAZING! Have you ever read or heard the saying, “Read Your Dog?” This is a seminar outside the lines of force fetching a dog or teaching them to run to the piles or sit on a whistle. This is a seminar to cover learning how dogs work and think, how they handle pressure, how to maintain a positive mental state as well as training and handling techniques.
Over this three day period Tim will work with the handlers and observers in the classroom as well as hands on with your dogs. The seminar is limited to 15 handlers, one dog per handler and the entry form is located HERE.
