This multi-session course is designed to ‘train the trainer’ and will help you teach your dog skills such as casting, water drills, the honor system, double retrieves, and more! The end goal is to create a better hunting companion for waterfowl and upland birds.
Each training session will end with a sit-down discussion of the skills taught and things to work on over the next week. This will give handlers ample opportunity to ask questions and engage with other members of the class.
This course can also help you take your junior level dog to the next level with training sessions that will help you prepare your dog for senior level AKC Hunt Tests!
Concepts Taught Will Include:
- E-collar conditioning
- Force fetch
- Force to Pile
- Casting
- T-work
- Water force
- Water T with Swim by
- Doubles
- Honoring
Prerequisites for this course are a solid, off-leash obedience level with your dog, a willingness to train at least 30 minutes a day outside of class, and dogs must have either a Junior Hunter title OR must have completed the NDRC Beginner course. Recommended for dogs six months and older.
Classes begin Wednesday May 4th and end mid-September, depending on desired participation. The class is limited to 12 handler/dog teams.
